These Expectations

These Expectations
By Ian W.G. Sparkman
Expectations to stand out; Expectations to never pout.
Expectations to defend; Expectations to clever to figure out.
Expectations from friends; Expectations to never go without.
With so little time left to lift the pen, I often ponder what to write about.
With so little time left to let people in, I often ponder what to write about.
This world is beauty by design, look around and take it all in;
Not enough time can ever be given.
This world is ours to re-define, look down and take it all in;
Not enough time can ever be given.
Expectations to live a long life; Expectations of doing whats right.
Expectations to bring about change; Expectations I know nothing about.
Expectations to smile every mile; Expectations I carry, spread ever so thin.
With so little time left to lift the pen, I often wonder if I shall ever finish.
With so little time left to show the world, I often grow weak and meek within.
This world is beauty by design, look around and take it all in;
Not enough time can ever be given.
This world is ours to re-define, look down and take it all in;
Not enough time can ever be given.
